Pittsburgh head to Los Angeles on a rough run of form, having lost for the sixth time in seven games last night.

The Pirates struggled for form after the All-Star break but enjoyed a brief flurry of victories in late July.

They won 6-5 in Arizona to avoid being swept, before heading to Houston to win the first two meetings with the Astros, 5-3 and 6-2.

Pittsburgh failed to complete the sweep though, losing the final game 5-4, and then returned home to sandwich a 4-2 win over Arizona with 9-8 and 6-5 defeats.

The Pirates then hosted San Diego Padres for a three-game series and were swept by the visiting Padres, losing 6-0, 9-8 and 7-6.

Los Angeles Dodgers Form

Los Angeles enter this series looking to rebound from back-to-back home defeats to Philadelphia.

The Dodgers returned from the All-Star break with a five-game win streak, but struggled for consistency over the next several games.

They ended July with 6-5 and 8-1 defeats in San Diego, and then began August with a 6-5 loss in Oakland.

Los Angeles rallied to take the next two meetings with the A’s, winning 10-0 and 3-2, and they then made it three wins in a row with a 5-3 victory at home to Philadelphia.

The Dodgers failed to keep that winning run going however, as they were beaten 6-2 and 9-4 by the Phillies.

Los Angeles' recent form has not been great, but with Patrick Flaherty starting against a struggling team, this is a good opportunity for them to get back on track.
