Two of the 2019 Cricket World Cup favourites in Australia and India meet at The Oval on Sunday. It’s a tough match to call so I will be backing Virat Kohli to continue his good record against Australia and score over 42.5 runs at 1.90.

Aaron Finch has past 35.5 runs only once in his last four innings, I am tipping him to fail to achieve that mark again at 1.90.

Australia Form & Team News

Australia are on a 10 match winning run in ODI cricket (excluding warm up games). With two wins from two at the World Cup the Aussies have started brightly especially considering their predicament against the West Indies.

Batting first, captain Aaron Finch failed for the third time in four matches as Australia found themselves at 5-79. A rescue act ensued with Steve Smith scoring 73, Alex Carey 45 and Nathan Coulter-Nile 92 which took Australia to a total of 288.

Mitchell Starc was the pick of the bowlers taking 5-46 as Australia went on to win by 15 runs.

Australia will no doubt be a popular choice at 2.00 but I am leaning towards Aaron Finch’s bad form in recent games. I am backing him to score under 35.5 runs at 1.90.

India Form & Team News

India’s ODI form was a bit patchy coming into the World Cup after losing three in a row to Australia and their opening warm up game against New Zealand. The doubts that may still have lingered around the Indian side were quickly quashed as they defeated South Africa.

South Africa were bowled out for 227 courtesy of Yuzvendra Chahal who took 4-51. Chahal ended with figures of 4-51 and can be backed at 4.00 to be India’s best bowler against Australia. In reply Rohit Sharma hit an unbeaten 122 as India won by six wickets.

India are slight favourites at 1.80 but this game is too close to call. For my best bet I am looking at Virat Kohli who averages 53 against the Aussies with two recent centuries against them. My tip is for the Indian captain to score over 42.5 runs at 1.90.
