Australia vs New Zealand Cricket World Cup Preview, Predictions, Betting Tips & Live Stream

Trans-Tasman rivals Australia and New Zealand clash at Lord’s in a key 2019 Cricket World Cup match. I am tipping David Warner to score over 42.5 runs and go on to score his third century in five innings'. Aaron Finch’s form has also been incredible so I am backing him to score over 40.5 runs at 1.90.

Australia Form & Team News

Australia’s only defeat at the World Cup came against India but they have looked an ominous force since.

In their last match against arch-rivals England the Aussies were triumphant by 64 runs. On a difficult pitch Aaron Finch and David Warner got the Australia off to a magnificent start with a 123-run opening stand.

Finch went on to score 101 runs as Australia posted 285. Mitchell Starc and Jason Behrendorff ripped the heart out of England’s batting by taking nine wickets between them for 87 runs.

Australia are favourites for the clash at 1.57 but I feel they are priced a bit short. There is value in the batsmen match runs market and I am tipping Aaron Finch to score over 40.5 runs at 1.90.

David Warner is the World Cup’s leading run-scorer (500). He deserves to be backed to score over 42.5 runs at 1.90. Given that Warner has scored 106 and 166 two of his last five innings he is a good bet to score a century at 3.75.

New Zealand Form & Team News

New Zealand are in a good position to qualify for the semi final but their defeat to Pakistan has put a bit of pressure back on the Black Caps. Kane Williamson has consistently bailed them out with fine performances but he failed on this occasion and they lost.

Jimmy Neesham top scored with 97 to get New Zealand to 237 but it would have taken a great bowling effort to defend that modest total. Pakistan cruised home with six wickets in hand.

I expect Henry Nicholls to get a run against Australia in place of the struggling Colin Munro or Martin Guptill. New Zealand can be backed at 2.37 for an outright win but they'll need their big players to perform at a high level against the high-flying Australians.

Australia vs New Zealand Head to Head

Australia and New Zealand have won five each of the last 10 ODI’s stretching back to 2015.

Australia vs New Zealand Match Up

Mitchell Starc is the World Cup’s leading wicket-taker and will be a big threat to the New Zealand batsmen who haven't hit their straps as yet.

For New Zealand Kane Williamson is the key man and if he doesn’t score runs they generally struggle, as we saw against Pakistan.

Aaron Finch cannot be ignored and with a score of 101 in his last innings I believe he is worth backing to score over 40.5 runs at 1.90.
