England vs Australia Cricket World Cup Preview, Predictions, Betting Tips & Live Stream

The longest standing rivalry in cricket recommences as England face Australia in the second 2019 Cricket World Cup semi final at Edgbaston. I am backing Jason Roy to be successful in the run-scoring market after two 50+ scores in his last two games.

David Warner has performed admirally after his long ban and he’s tipped to score over 41.5 runs while there is value in Aaron Finch with a score of 100 runs against the English recently.

England Form & Team News

The return from injury of Jason Roy has rejuvenated the England batting line-up. He has scored 60 and 66 runs in his last two innings so there is value in him going over 40.5 runs at 1.90.

In England’s last match Jonny Bairstow led the charge with 106 runs as England posted a commanding 305 runs at Chester-le-Street against New Zealand. Mark Wood took 3-34 for England, bowling the Black Caps out for a meagre 186 runs, 116 runs short.

England are odds on favourites at 1.72 but I think that is risky having already lost to the Aussies in this World Cup.

Australia Form & Team News

Australia were the form team of the World Cup until their slip up against South Africa in the last match at Old Trafford. David Warner scored 122 runs but the Aussies fell 10 runs short of South Africa’s 326 runs.

David Warner has scored three centuries at the World Cup thus far and sits in second position of the top run-scorers. I am backing him in the batsman match runs market to score over 41.5 runs at 1.90.

Opening partner Aaron Finch is tipped to go over the 39.5 run mark at 1.90 considering his 100 runs against England earlier in the campaign.

Australia beat England in the round robin stage so I will be placing a small layout on the Aussies to reach the final at 2.10.

England vs Australia Head to Head

England have won 10 of the last 12 meetings against Australia but came unstuck earlier in the 2019 World Cup.

David Warner (53) and Aaron Finch (100) got Australia off to start as they went on to total 286 runs. England were never in the chase and only Ben Stokes (86) showed some resistance in their total of 221, losing by 64 runs.

England vs Australia Match Up

This match could be decided by the opening partnership of England and Australia. Both teams’ openers are in great form, particularly Australia’s David Warner.

On the bowling front the hosts have the fantastic Jofra Archer while Australia possesses the World Cup’s leading wicket-taker (26) in Mitchell Starc.
