England vs Pakistan Cricket World Cup Preview, Predictions, Betting Tips & Live Stream

England head to Trent Bridge to face Pakistan for their second match of the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The hosts are playing some incredible cricket at the moment but with little value in the outright market, I’m looking at the total match runs to be over 310.5 runs.

In the last match between these sides at Trent Bridge Babar Azam scored 115 in a high scoring encounter so I am backing him to get over 36.5 runs at 2.00.

England Form & Team News

England got their World Cup campaign off to a perfect start with a 104 run victory at The Oval against South Africa. Ben Stokes top scored with 89 as England posted 311 before dismissing the South Africans for 207. Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-27.

Jason Roy scored 114 in the game against Pakistan at Trent Bridge just before the World Cup and will be a popular choice to score another century at Trent Bridge at 6.00.

England are short favourites at 1.25 but with so many batsmen in-form, picking someone to be the best batsman is a bit risky. I am rather going to focus on the total match runs at over 310.5 at 2.10.

Pakistan Form & Team News

Pakistan’s form just keeps getting worse by the looks of it. They came into the World Cup on the back of a 10 match run of defeats in ODI’s and that has now become 11 after defeat to the West Indies.

On an overcast day in Nottingham the Pakistan batsman failed to deal with the movement the West Indies bowlers got and were bowled out for a measly 105. The West Indies cruised home inside 14 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Babar Azam scored 115 against England at Trent Bridge just a couple of weeks ago. In that series the Pakistan batsman were very good with all four games going over the 310.5 run mark.

Pakistan can be backed at 4.00 to cause an upset but with the form England are showing, that is a very long shot. There is more value in Babar Azam to score over 36.5 at 2.00.

England vs Pakistan Head to Head

England have beaten Pakistan in 18 of their last 24 ODI meetings. This includes a 4-0 series drubbing shortly before the World Cup.

In their match at Trent Bridge in that series Pakistan batted first with Babar Azam scoring 115 in a total of 340. England chased the score down as Jason Roy top scored for 114.

England vs Pakistan Match Up

England have looked unstoppable over the last few months and the addition of Jofra Archer has added pace to their bowling line-up.

Pakistan have struggled in ODI cricket recently but they scored runs in England in their recent series. Babar Azam remains their most potent threat with the bat.

England vs Pakistan Key Statistics

  • Trent Bridge saw 681 runs in an ODI between England and Pakistan recently.
  • Trent Bridge has seen over 610.5 runs in 4 of its last 7 completed matches.

Verdict

Recently all four ODI’s between England and Pakistan went over 610.5 runs, including the one at Trent Bridge. Therefore I am tipping this match to have over 610.5 at 2.10.

Pakistan’s Babar Azam is in good form and scored 115 against England at Trent Bridge just a couple of weeks ago. There is value in him to go past the 36.5 run park at 2.00.

Best Bet: Over 610.5 Match Runs @ 2.10 at bet365 – 4 Units
Over/Under Tip: Babar Azam Over 36.5 Runs @ 2.00 at bet365 – 2 Units
