Sri Lanka return to Chester-le-Street to face the West Indies at the 2019 Cricket World Cup in a match the sub-continent side must win in order to remain in playoff contention.

I am tipping Sri Lanka to claim victory against the odds at 2.75 against a Windies side that has only managed one win at the World Cup thus far.

Sri Lanka have not exactly been outstanding during their World Cup campaign but their playoff hopes remain very much alive. Their unexpected victory over England woke the World Cup up and revived their World Cup hopes.

Unfortunately Sri Lanka ran into a South African side who decided to perform to their capabilities for the first time in the tournament at Chester-le-Street. The Lions were disappointing with the bat scoring 203 and their bowlers never really had a chance of defending that on a good batting wicket.

Despite their nine wicket loss to South Africa the Sri Lankans are still in the hunt for a semi final spot after beating Afghanistan and England. They are odds against at 2.75 and I am backing them to cause an upset.

West Indies Form & Team News

After a promising start to the World Cup with victory over Pakistan the West Indies have not won in their last six matches. With only three points with two games left to play the Windies can no longer qualify for the playoffs.

The West Indies were annihilated in their previous match against India at Old Trafford. Chasing a total of 268 runs the Windies were bowled out for 143 runs with no batsman performing to a decent standard.

Sheldon Cottrell has been quite magnificent for the West Indies with the ball and in the field. Unfortunately he has received little support from elsewhere.

The West Indies go into this clash as favourites at 1.44 but I am leaning towards Sri Lanka who still have a chance of qualifying for the semi finals.
