West Indies vs England Women Predictions

England are hot favourites and should really win comfortably. The West Indies Women do have plenty of ability, and on their day can be very dangerous.

Recent form however suggests that the West Indies don’t often have a good day. I am backing Sophia Dunkley to score big against the West Indies.

  • West Indies have lost 10 of their last 11 T20I matches.
  • England have won their last 10 matches in all formats.
  • England have won their last 5 T20I matches against the West Indies.
  • England’s Sophia Dunkley has scored 60 & 59 runs in her last 2 T20I matches.

Head to Head

England Women have beaten the West Indies in their last five T20I matches. Their last outing took place in December 2022, a match England won by eight wickets.

West Indies Women Form

The West Indies are not the side they were a few years ago but still possess the individual quality to cause upsets on their day. The 2016 T20 WC champions will hope to somehow find that form again to come from nowhere and surprise everyone.

Run scoring has been a huge problem for the West Indies of late. They did manage to win their last warm-up game against Sri Lanka by four wickets, but were chasing a measly total of 107 to win.

In their match before that, the Windies failed to reach 100 in their 20 overs against New Zealand.

Captain and opening batswoman, Haley Matthews will hold much of the hopes of the West Indies women. She is a formidable batter when she gets going. Stafanie Taylor is also dangerous lower down the order.

England Women Form

England Women come into this World Cup clash in good form. They are among the favourites to win the tournament behind rivals, Australia.

The English have won their last 10 matches in all formats. Their last defeat came against India in an ODI fixture in September last year. They also won both T20 World Cup warm-up games, seeing off South Africa and New Zealand.

While the bowlers gave them a scare in the first match against the South Africans, England cruised past New Zealand with a five-wicket win in Cape Town.

England Women Injuries & Team News

Heather Knight may be entering the twilight of her career, but she is still among the best in the world. Overall England have very well-balanced side with a good mix of quality throughout.

Verdict

England Women should win but it is the form of Sophia Dunkley that is worth keeping an eye on. She is backed to top score.
