T1 and DRX will meet on Monday, May 15, in the final week of the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2023 Pacific League. If DRX win they’ll collect the VCT 2023 Pacific League regular season trophy, while a victory for T1 would keep them in a race for a top-two finish.

Esports betting sites have priced T1 as huge 5.50 underdogs to upset DRX, who enter the match as 1.12 favourites. The betting odds aren’t that surprising, mainly because DRX have looked like the best team in the league, but any squad can slip. So the question is, will DRX live up to the expectations and lock in the title, or will they fall at the final hurdle?

T1 and DRX have yet to meet this season.

T1 Form

T1 have been very up-and-down in the earlier part of the season but found traction in Week 5 when they started their four-game winning streak. Over that stretch, T1 have defeated RRQ (2-0), DetonatioN Focus Me (2-1), Team Secret (2-0), and ZETA DIVISION (2-1), thus securing a top-six finish and a ticket for the playoffs.

T1 will end the season in an excellent spot, but looking back, they haven’t beaten any notable teams. RRQ weren’t very strong when they fell to T1, DetonatioN FocusMe are the weakest team in the league (yet they won a map against T1), and beating ZETA DIVISION isn’t a massive accomplishment either.

Credit is where credit is due – T1 have proven that they’re better than an average team from VCT 2023 Pacific League, but that doesn’t change the fact that there is a massive gap between the top contenders and the rest.

DRX are 7-1 ahead of their meeting with T1, guaranteeing them a top-two finish to the season. And if they defeat T1, DRX will secure the VCT 2023 Pacific League regular season title, so it’s fair to expect them to give their all and not put themselves in a situation where Paper Rex can overtake them.

Although there’s always a chance that DRX slip, this doesn’t seem like a very likely outcome. The Korean squad have been playing excellent Valorant over the last weeks, and even though they dropped a map against RRQ (1-2) in Week 6, it had more to do with the fact that RRQ are a solid team.

DRX have yet to give me a reason to doubt them, and I don’t expect that to change on Monday.

Verdict

T1 v DRX

Valorant esports betting odds suggest that DRX should have an easy time defeating T1 on Monday, and I don’t have a good reason to argue with that. Even though T1 did enough to earn a spot in the playoffs, DRX are still the strongest team in the league and much better than any other mid-table squad, including T1.

Expect a quick 2-0 win for DRX.
