José Peseiro’s side kept a third straight clean sheet in the Round of 16, beating Cameroon 2-0. They were dominant defensively, Ademola Lookman scoring in both halves.

Lookman scored again in a 1-0 quarter-final win against Angola, Victor Osimhen taking a team high four shots on target.

South Africa started AFCON with a 2-0 defeat against Mali after Percy Tau missed an early penalty.

Tau responded by opening the scoring a 4-0 victory over Namibia. Bafana Bafana ended the group stage with a 0-0 draw against Tunisia.

Hugo Broos’ side defeated Morocco 2-0 in the Round of 16 following Evidence Makgopa’s opener. They went a man ahead in the 93rd minute before Teboho Mokoena got on the score sheet.

South Africa kept another clean sheet against Cape Verde in the quarter-finals. The game went all the way to penalties after a 0-0 draw, Ronwen Williams saving four spot kicks.
