Lithuania are considered to be a low-tier team in Europe, so Poland should be able to end their winless run and start the World Cup qualifiers with a clean victory in front of the home crowd in Warsaw.

After having a disappointing run in EURO 2024, Poland ended the previous year with four defeats and a draw in the UEFA Nations League.

After losing back to back matches to Croatia 1-0 and Portugal 3-1, Poland held Croatia to a 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture in front of the home crowd, Piotr Zielinski, Nicola Zalewski and Sebastian Szymanski on target.

Their two most recent appearances were disastrous though. First, they lost to Portugal 5-1 in Porto, while losing at home to Scotland 2-1 in the final round and got relegated from the UEFA Nations League A.

Lithuania Form

Lithuania also had very difficult period in second half of 2024, wrapping up the previous year with six consecutive defeats in the UEFA Nations League.

They scored in both of the October appearances at home, but lost both matches against Kosovo 2-1 and Romania 2-1.

Gvidas Gineitis’ second-half goal was not enough to end the losing run against Cyprus in mid-November, losing that encounter 2-1. A couple of days later, the Yellow and Greens were also beaten in Prishtina by Kosovo 1-0 to finish last in the UNL group.

Sebastian Walukiewicz, Taras Romanczuk and Arkadiusz Milik are injured for Poland. Piotrk Zielinski who accumulated 99 appearances for the national team was not called up, as well as Bartoz Kaputska.

As for the visitors, Modestas Vorobjovas is injured. Fedor Cernych has the most appearances for the national team on this roster (97), scoring 15 goals.
