South Korea vs Oman Preview

South Korea beat Oman 3-1 in Amman where they had 12-2 shots on target. I am expecting the Taegeuk Warriors to dominate once again and win with a clean sheet in Goyang.

South Korea Form

South Korea started the World Cup qualifiers with a 0-0 draw against Palestine despite having 75% possession and 15-10 shots.

The Taegeuk Warriors won their next four games, winning by two goals in Oman, Jordan and Kuwait. Their previous home game ended in a 3-2 win against Iraq, enjoying 76% possession in Yongin.

Son Heung-min equalised early but Korea had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Palestine. They had 74% possession and 10-3 shots on target, wasting too many chances in Amman.

Oman won two of their opening six World Cup qualifiers, both at home. They kept clean sheets in beating Kuwait 4-0 and Palestine 1-0.

Rashid Jaber’s side went all the way at the Gulf Cup, going unbeaten in the group stage before a huge result in the semi-finals. Rabia Al-Alawi was sent off in the 34th minute, Arshad Al-Alawi’s free kick putting them ahead and Ali Al-Busaidi making it 2-0 late on.

The Reds lost 2-1 against Bahrain in the final, conceding two late goals after Abdul Rahman Al Mushaifri opened the scoring early on.

Verdict

South Korea play twice at home this week where two wins will secure a spot at the World Cup. I think they will be too good for Oman, control the game and do it with a clean sheet.
