Malaysia vs Philippines Predictions
Malaysia have a great home record, and they should be able to see off an out-of-form Philippines. A home win is my top tip at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
- Malaysia won 12 of their last 14 home matches (friendlies)
- Philippines lost 6 of their last 7 matches
- Philippines lost 10 of their last 12 away matches
Head to Head
Malaysia and the Philippines have faced each other on seven previous occasions but only once in the past seven years. Malaysia won two matches, including a 2-0 victory in their most recent meeting in 2022, while the other five encounters finished level.
Malaysia Form
Malaysia return to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium after breaking a seven-game winless run with a 3-1 victory against Chinese Taipei in June. Pau Martí Vicente's side had lost four of their seven previous matches since November 2023.
Much stronger on home soil, the Malayan Tiger have recorded victories in 12 of their last 16 international fixtures in Malaysia.
The Malaysians also collected victories in 12 of 13 home friendly fixtures before a 2-0 defeat to Tajikistan last October.

Interim boss Pau Martí Vicente has a 26-man squad available on Wednesday. Twenty-nine-year-old midfielder Zhafri Yahya is the only uncapped player included in the Malaysian selection.
Philippines Form
The Philippines make the trip to Malaysia looking to break a four-game losing streak. The Azkais conceded 11 goals in back-to-back defeats against Iraq (1-0), Iraq (5-0), Vietnam (3-2) and Indonesia (2-0).
Now led by interim boss Norman Fegidero, the Philippines have lost 14 and won only four of their last 20 internationals since June 2002.
On the road, the Azkais have an abysmal record, with defeat suffered in 12 of their last 15 away fixtures over the past two and a half years.

Verdict
Malaysia are usually strong in home matches, and I expect them to claim victory on Wednesday. A home win is my only choice in Kuala Lumpur.
