Cheltenham rang in the New Year with a cracking card this Sunday. Mares' Hurdle winner, Marie's Rock marked her return to action with a fine victory in the Relkeel Hurdle, kicking clear of Dashel Drasher after the last to win comfortably.

Nicky Henderson then said that a return to the Mares' Hurdle will be Marie's Rock's target and Unibet was quick to cut the defending champion in from 7s to 4/1 second-favouritism.

The first Grade Two on Sunday's card at Cheltenham, the Dipper Novices' Chase was won by The Real Whacker, who made all under Sam Twiston-Davies. Harry and Dan Skelton then celebrated another ITV victory, as Midnight River won the New Year's Day Handicap Chase.

Henry Daly's excellent season continued when Rapper bolted up in the three-and-a-quarter mile handicap chase. Charlie Longsdon claimed another ITV victory in the Paddy Power Handicap Hurdle, where Hector Javilex ran out an impressive winner under Lilly Pinchin.

Weveallbeencaught was cut into 25/1 for the Albert Bartlett at the Cheltenham Festival after he won the opening novices' hurdle. The final race on New Year's Day went the way of the in-form Ben Pauling, as Fiercely Proud landed the Listed Juniors Flat Race.
