Kevin Anderson has started his ATP 2019 Wimbledon well but faces clay court specialist Guido Pella in what may prove a tough third round encounter. I am tipping both players to win a set and Kevin Anderson to win the match.

I think there is huge value in the no tie break market at 3.25 considering that both players have only had one each in their opening two matches.

Kevin Anderson had a straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Pierre-Hughes Herbert in the first round which was followed by a slightly more challenging 6-4, 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 win over Janko Tipsarevic.

The big South African could hardly have hoped for a better start to Wimbledon after spending two and a half months on the sidelines due to injury. I don’t see it being a straightforward match for Kevin Anderson but his grass court game should ultimately prove too much for Guido Pella.

Kevin Anderson is the odds on favourite at 1.14 but the set betting market offers more value. I am tipping Anderson to win the match but Guido Pella to take a set at 2.62.

Pella reached the third round with a cracking 6-4, 4-6, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory over Andreas Seppi in the second round.

The bookmakers have Guido Pella as underdog at 5.50 to beat last season’s Wimbledon runner-up Kevin Anderson. Pella is better known for his exploits on clay and while he could cause Anderson problems, I don’t believe it will be enough.

Pella has been in impressive form over the last 18 months though and considering he has already played a four and five set match, I feel there is value in him winning a set against Kevin Anderson.

In the first two rounds both players have faced only one tie break each, I think it is worth backing a no tie break in match match at 3.25.

Guido Pella’s form has been good enough for me to back him to take at least a set of Kevin Anderson. My best bet is for Anderson to advance to the next round but not without Pella taking a set at 2.62.
